Encrypting in WinXP

I have a new laptop, and I just tried to encrypt a folder, just to see how it
works. I did this the normal way(properties-general-advanced) but the
check-box to encrypt the folder was "greyed out". The folder is not
compressed, and has one text file in it. Any ideas why this box is
unavailable?

EFS is only available in Windows XP Professional. If you are using the Home
version you can not use EFS.

What version of Windows XP, Home or Pro?
EFS is not an option with Windows XP Home.
Also you need to be using NTFS file system.
