embedded WMP plugin causes browsers to crash and quit!

Hi there!
Each time IE6 opens pages with an embedded WMP, the browser suddenly
crashes and quits... I can't watch any video/audio from any website!!!
Really annoying!!!
I've already read the previous posts with hints and solutions about this
problem but none did solve it!!! IE6 keeps on crashing!!! Same think
happens with IE7 beta...
I've also tried to re-install WMP10, cleared cache and temp files
manually and with tools ad hoc, turned on/off firewall (ZoneAlarm) and
antivirus (PC-cillin 2006), scanned system for malware and such (none
was found)... but nothing changed!!! No error msg is given (I checked
also on the Event Register...)
Please help me!!!

I encounter such a problem even with Mozilla FireFox 1.5, but at least
this browser doesn't crash, it just displays the embedded WMP plugin but
plays nothing... on Error details error code "800C000D" is given.

Opening media files directly with the stand-alone WMP10 makes no
troubles, it works fine.

PLZ help!!!.

P.S.: OS is Windows XP PRO SP2 (Italian language)
