Embed Flash Movie in PP 2003/8 running on VISTA

Embed Flash Movie in PP 2003/8 running on VISTA - is not saving the state
"true" in the Properties dialog box.

How to fix this?

PS. I had no problem when running PP on Windows XP Pro

Hi Echo

I am using PowerPoint 2003 and 2007 edition on VISTA. In either case when
setting EmbedMovie to "True", save, close and re-open - the setting is
altered to "False"

- I tryed to save to 97 - 2003 and but get this message "You are attempting
to save a file type that is blocked by your registry policy setting"

- I tryed to save as PP2003, using PP2003 then open in PP2007, then I get a
Macro/ActiveX warning - wich I can accept/activate but stil the setting is
altered to "False"

In order to get the job don, I have dusted off my old labtop with PP2003
running on Windows XP Pro - and it has never caused problems like the above.
However that is not an accepteble in the long run.

I'm confused by the 2003 / 8 reference. Which version of PowerPoint are you
using?

If you add the SWF to PPT 2007 and save the file as 97-2003 format, the SWF
is definitely embedded.

When you're using PPT 2007, you have to link to the SWF.

Are you using PPT 2007 on Windows XP?

I think you'll have to enable 97-2003 saving from PPT 2007. I can find 3 KB

Odd that PPT 2003 won't embed SWFs on the Vista machine. This isn't
something we've seen any reports of. Wonder if it's a Vista security setting
of some sort.

Yes, it sounds like an ActiveX issue, how do you find out what version is
running on your (my) computer?

I´ll have a look at the blocked registy issue, but I´m not really interested

Well, I think the version of ActiveX control is tied to your version of
Flash Player. So maybe try updating to the latest Flash Player on the Adobe
site and see if that fixes things.

You're not going to be able to embed the SWF in the PPT 2007 file

Hi - it´s working...

Installed the latest flashplayer version 9.0.124.0, rebooted, deleted the
slide that made trouble, embedded the swf again, and voila it works - even
when you place the PPT on a USB-stick and run the PPT form a different
computer - it also works as pps. In PP2007 you need to allow ActiveX/macro
and save as pptm or pptx

Yes I am aware of the issue in 2007 if you want to sent or run ppt from
another computer then the embed function does not embed the swf-file, and you
have to make a folder with the PP and the swf - hopefully this issue will be
adressed by Microsoft

Echo S said:
In PPT 2007, even as PPTX or PPTM, it won't be embedded, though.

Or maybe it will with that particular control. I know in my tests here, once
I delete the SWF from my harddrive, PPT 2007 doesn't run it, no matter if I
save as PPTX or PPTM. If I save it as a 97-2003 format, it does.

You should move the SWF from the folder where you told PPT to look for it
and see if it really does still run in PPT 2007.
