Emails take a long time to open or reply to??????

I just installed Office 2003 Professional and find that outlook takes about
30 - 45 sec to open the email or reply to. Sometimes I will get a "not
responding" in the blue bar at the top of the window. I am running windows
xp professional with service packs current, Norton Internet security with
current updates.

All other MS software and other software running okay.

Help!

I did as you said and turned off the NIS Scan and outlook takes about 1 min.
to open or to open a reply window. Any other suggestions? Is it possible a
file might be corrupt?
