Email suddenly won't send

After working fine, my 3 most recent attempts to send emails just sit in my
outbox and do not send. Checked all settings, called email provider and
checked all with it, ran tests in Outlook 2003-fine, disabled firewalls,
anti-virus, etc. Comcast says all is configured fine and suggests I contact
Microsoft. When I entered product ID into Microsoft product ID dialogue box a
message said that the product number was not supported in my country (USA)!!
I am running software on a one month old Dell Dimension 8400, purchased from
Dell with Outlook 2003 installed by Dell as part of Office. Help please!!
Thank you.

Are the messages in the outbox italicized? What anti-virus software do you
have? If you have Norton, indications from posts to this group are that
just turning off mail scanning doesn't really do it - you have to uninstall
Norton, then reinstall without those options selected.
