email - send/receive not working

Guest

in trying to send/receive email I am getting the following error message: the
specified server was found, but there was not response from the server.
Please verify that the port and SSL information is correct. To access these
settings close this dialog, then click more settings and click on the
advanced tab.

Email has been working fine until 4 days ago, then will not send/receive.
Contacted my internet provider who said they do not support Outlook and that
it was a server (Microsoft) problem. Any ideas? Thanks

Ask your internet provider if they require SSL, or if they use nonstandard
ports.

They don't have to support Outlook (from a technical support standpoint) if
your Outlook isn't working, but they should be knowledgeable enough to walk
you through your settings to ensure they are correct.

By default Outlook is configured to connect to the incoming server (POP3) on
port 110, the outgoing server (SMTP) on port 25, and does not use SSL. If
your provider uses other ports than these--or uses SSL--they need to let you
know what this information is and should be able to walk you through
entering it. If they can't, I'd find a new ISP. ;)

Who is your ISP? They are obviously incompetent.
Server problems are the responsibility of the server owner,
i.e., the ISP.
What you might try, though, is setting up the same account
in Outlook Express. If it doesn't work there either, your ISP
has no excuse not to help you with that.
