Eliminate scrolling taskbar

My taskbar displays a single visible item to the left of the notification
tray area. Between the visible icon and the notification area are now
found small scroll bars. I don't know how this mode came to appear, but I
would like to return to the previous mode of display, with multiple items
visible on the taskbar. What controls this function, so I can change it
back?

Right-click the taskbar, "Properties", uncheck "Group similar taskbar buttons", Apply, OK
