volume icon is disabled at every boot

In the notification area in the taskbar (lower right corner) both my volume
and network icon are missing. It always disappear in the next boot.

If I go to Control Panel / Sound and Audio Device
[x] place volume icon in the taskbar
The volume icon will appear immediately in the notification area.
At the same time, the network icon will appear in the notification area too.

Also, when I click the taskbar / properties / Notification Area / customize
the volume is set to "Always shows"

But in my next boot, the control panel / sound and audio device
[ ] place volume icon in the taskbar
will ALWAYS un-marked at new boot.

My screen display is set to 1152 x 864.
The Screen / Appearance / Active Title bar size is 21.

I know, I have been working this with you for some time. There are just too
many keys from the registry that I need you to export. In the meantime, run
the Startup Tracker from here and send me the logfile via email:

Most welcome and my what a clean Startup Log, hats off to you!)

I would start with removing Belt.exe (noted in my reply to you) as it does
alter Taskbar settings, etc. Good luck and keep us posted.

Kelly,
Removed belt.exe.
Re-boot, same no volume icon and control panel / sound is unmarked again.
Also, no network icon.
Your advise is much appreciated. Abby

Hi Abby,

Depends on how you removed belt.exe and not meaning just the .exe. I
answered your private email as well. Hope you have some of this working
since my reply this morning.
