Ebay won't let me sign in

I cannot seem to sign into my Ebay account on my computer but every other
computer lets me. I have tried everything from installing IE7 to Mozilla
Firefox. Ebay will not even open. I checked the SSL on my internet options
tab. I even did an update install of my Windows XP installation disk. The
only thing I can think of next is to reinstall XP as if it were being put on
for the first time. Any other suggestions before I do this? I used to be
able to get on Ebay on my computer.

Hi,
Is there an error message?

Can you connect to http://www.ebay.com ?

From Internet Options> General, try clearing the Temporary Internet Files,
History, Cookies and (if you have passwords recorded elsewhere) Passwords.

Shut down (power down) everything for a few minutes- modem, router,
computers.

Try clearing the DNS Cache
Start> Run> cmd [enter]
ipconfig /flushdns
Then clear the Temporary Internet Files and restart.

Hope this helps,
Don

Hi,
What I get when I try is this page which shows search results:
http://www.ebay.com is
http://search.yahoo.com/search?p=www.ebay.com&ei=utf-8&fr=b2ie7

Then when I click on the first entry of Ebay's website I get this message:
"Internet Explorer cannot display web page". Sometimes when I do a search
for an item it lets me in to Ebay but never lets me sign in to bid on
anything. This computer used to in the beginning though.

I have already tried your suggestions of deleting temporary internet files,
passwords, offline content, history and cookies. The last thing for me to do
is try the power down you suggested which I will try as soon as I can and
also will try the DNS Cache you also suggested. Will let you know what
happens. Thanks for your reply. LAnnW

This sounds like something is blocking outgoing access to www.ebay.com -
such as a proxy server, or firewall. Have you got something like Zonealarm
or Norton Internet Securuty running that you might have inadvertently
blocked access to ebay.com with?

Nope, I don't have Zonealarm or Norton Internet Security. What I do have is
McAfee Internet Security Suite 10-in-1 protection but I only had regular
McAfee when this first happened in 2006. I checked all firewalls and still
nothing. I was thinking maybe if I reinstalled Windows XP and start all
over, would it work? I am quite stumped. Thanks.

I also cannot sign into ebay, although I used to be able to. I tried
switching to netscape and firefox. I cleared the cache, cookies, history,
passwords and even turned off my firewall. The only security system as far as
I can see on this computer is windows. I can do everything on ebay except
getting into my ebay. It simply won't display the page. Someone MUST know
what is going on here. I can log into ebay even from my phone but not from
this crazy computer

Please start your own thread--not just try changing the Subject in an existing
thread. Your symptom and the OP's are not the same. E.g. if you are getting
a 403 or 404 it means that your authentication is not working or you are mistyping
a URL's path or filename but at least you have connectivity to a site's server.
In contrast the OP's symptoms suggest there is no connectivity to a site's server at all.
