DWT vs Shared Borders

Hi All,

I'm new to FP 2003 and would be interested in hearing the pro/cons regarding
DWT vs Shared Borders.

All my previous "limited" website experience has been with Dreamweaver. We
are in the process of converting everthing over to FP 2003, and don't want to
make a bad decision right off.

Thanks

Jim

Hi -
I think I'm correct in saying that almost everyone will tell you that
shared borders are not the best feature to use and that DWT's are much
better. Paul Colligan's Frontpage Audio Manual rants against them pretty
heavily. I'd kind of be interested myself in knowing more about why they are
not good to use. I gladly accept the experts advice.
Good Luck,...Frank

Basically in FP2003, the DWT replaces the Shared Border component from prior versions of FP. With a
DWT you have complete control over the page layout and can have more then one DWT in a site whereas
with Shared Borders you are limit
to single top, bottom, left or right shared borders within a site. As a alternative to using either
Shared Borders or the DWT you can use the FP include Page component which offer same functionality
of Shared Borders but doesn't limit your placement or the number of individual ones.

Plus the FP DWT are compatible w/ most templates created in Dreamweaver
