DVD Slide Show?

M

Mort

I am using XP Home SP3
I have many .jpg images which I would like to copy to a DVD so that I
can cycle through them during a lecture. When I burn them to a DVD using
Windows, I find that the DVD can only be played on a computer. I would
much prefer to be able to use a "standard" DVD player rather than a
computer (for various reasons which I can't go into here).

1) Is there some way to burn a DVD (too many files for a CD), which will
play on a home DVD Player?

2) Can these be set up as a slide show which will not autoplay, but
rather change scenes when I clich the remote?

Thank you for any advice.

These aren't XP-related questions, but apparently that's par for this
newsgroup :)

Depends on how your DVD player works.

Mine, an old Sony of some sort, will take a data DVD filled with JPGs
with a standard directory structure and allow you to browse through the
files, displaying them just as you'd hope.
2) Can these be set up as a slide show which will not autoplay, but
rather change scenes when I clich the remote?

Again, it depends. Most likely, if your DVD player will display JPGs in
the first place, it will have some some way to step through the images.

[Before you ask, mine also plays MP3s. I think that these two functions
are pretty common.]

If your free standing DVD Player has the JPEG
compatibility option you can copy the .jpg files
to a Data DVD (just like the one you created)
and the player will recognize it. Check your DVD
player's manual for file compatibility.

FWIW...DVD Players with the JPEG compatibility
are very reasonable now. The following link is
just one example:

Magnavox DVD Player / $29.00

Or for a much more involved task...

The freeware PhotoStory 3 can create a
video slide show of up to 300 photos. The
next step would be to use DVD Authoring
software to create a Video DVD using
the completed PhotoStory .wmv movie file.

Sonic DVD for Photo Story 3 for Windows

And...read the following article, maybe it will help:

Burn Your Photo Stories to DVD for Free
using Microsoft Photo Story 3 for Windows

Good luck.....
