has anyone found software that works with vista32 that will allow the editing
of photos, with music and menus that can be burned onto dvd.
I have a pioneer112dl burner.
I have tried the suppied software with windows but the music places large
gaps bewteen the tracks and does not function fully.
I have tried wondershare and Ulead software but all fail when I go to burn.
Which seems to be the main problem with most, please only comment if you
have a working software that you can verify works,
thanks

This site is a treasure of information on entry level information
about video editing, CD/DVD burning. You first want to check what
others think of your particular DVD burner, what issues if any they've
had and what types of media gives them problems. The site is rich with
how-to articles and also has many high volume forums of related
topics.
Editing photos, editing music and creating menus for DVD are all
different tasks and best results are obtained with special software
for each. I shake my head daily reading the posts from people here and
in the video group trying to make DVDs with Microsoft's crap. Bottom
line it simply isn't worth the torture you'll put yourself through.
BUY some REAL video editing software! Freeware and most shareware
simply doesn't cut it, if you're serious. My observation is beginners
want all the bells and whistles, buy are unwilling to spend the money
to get decent software. Never has the statement 'you get what you pay
for' been more true than with video editing software. There is a lot
of junk out there. If you REALLY want to do this, even as a hobby,
expect to invest at least a few hundred dollars to get decent
software.
Burning a DVD so it can play on any DVD set top DVD player and/or on
any computer requires several steps and strict compliance to specs,
proper preparation of source material, conversion to specific file
types, imaging and finally DVD Authoring software if you want anything
beyond some mickey mouse results.
Do I have "working" software that really works? Duh...
You want the best, get Sony. Not because they wrote the software,
rather because they have such deep pockets they bought a company a
couple years ago that did write some of the best video editing and
music creating/handling software at any price. That company was called
Sonic Foundry, and was the "secret" of many artists and professional
audio engineers in the business, in and out of the Hollywood scene.
