DVD not recognized

I recently bought some Mitsumi DVD's. I am running a Toshiba DVD burner. When
I put the disk in the DVD, it doesn't recognize it - says the DVD burner is
still empty. Can anyone help me?

Hi,

The XP native burning software does not support DVD burning.
Have you installed any DVD burning softwares, e.g. nero 6.0 ?

DVD medias come in three types"

DVD+R

DVD-R

DVD-RAM

Depending on the age of the DVD drive, the unit may only support one media
type over the others. Also, some DVD drives can only use certain makes of
medias. Checj to see if the media is correct for your drive. You can also
check for drive firmware updates. (Note: Firmware updates that FAIL and
cause to DVD drive not to work, are not covered by the warranty).

Also, as stated before, the native XP burning utilities do not support DVD.
You need third party software. Nero or Roxio Easy Media Creator seems to be
the two leaders.

Were you able to reach a resolution to the issues with your Toshiba DVD? Is
it a Toshiba DVD-ROM SD-R5002 ?
I am able to use the DVD to play DVDs, but am no longer able to create DVDs.
The Toshiba DVD-ROM SD-R5002 came installed with my Sony Vaio desktop. Using
the provided Click to DVD or DVGate software, I was once able to create DVDs.
Not sure what happened since then, but I can no longer get the media to be
recognized.
It keeps indicating to use appropriate DVD media so I tried DVD-R and
DVD-RW. Neither works... tried several manufacturers of DVDs (MEMOREX, SONY,
TDK etc).
Have searched Sony's support site, Toshiba's support site and so far no clue.
If you were able to resolve your issue or could identify with mine, please
let me know.
Regards
Zatrums
