DVD Drive will always error

Eri

I have a DVD drive (D:\) that is acting up lately. Only
this past week it has been throwing the following error to
me everytime i try to run or open any programs from the
drive. My other Drive (E:\) will run the same programs
without any issue. The error is:
Only part of a readprocessmemory or writeprocessmemory
request was completed.
A friend of mine said it could be that the drive is going
bad. I've had it for about 5 years. But I've never had
issues with it before. I recently installed Windows XP
Home Edition (Clean Full Install) on my system. I have
over 700 DDR RAM, 1.5 GHz processor, 128 DDR ATI
videocard, and 20 Gig harddrive.
If anyone out there knows or can tell me anything to shed
some light on this, I would greatly appreciate it.
Also, the drive came from another computer, but it has
been fine for the last 2 years on this system. Thanks,
Eri

5 yrs is really well for any drive. Replacement drives
are very cheap now and I suggest you replace it. The
drive is not reading properly
