DVD dock supermulti recorder & RW does not play

Hi

I hope that this is the correct forum for my question.

I have a Toshiba Libretto DVD Dock Supermulti recorder & RW, Model no.
PA3433U-1DV2.

This does not play and it is not displayed in explorer. I have tried a few
different DVD/CD's but it still does not work. There are small keys on the
player which also do not respond. In the past, Window Media Player could be
launched using the keys.

Please can you advise me?

Thank you.

"Product Description

The Toshiba libretto DVD Dock is a dual layer DVD burner that combines all
the functions of a DVD Player, DVD Recorder, CD Player and CD Recorder into
one lightweight, portable design that fits neatly under the libretto PC. It
reads and writes to the most popular CD and DVD media formats for added
convenience. The Express Media Player buttons instantly turn your PC into a
portable DVD player, without turning the PC on.

The DVD Dock is *powered* directly via your libretto, eliminating the need
to carry around additional batteries or AC adapters. Since it attaches to
the bottom of notebook and doesn't take up a *USB* port, it is the ultimate
portable storage solution for mobile users."

So that begs the questions -

1) Is it sitting underneath a Libretto U100, and getting power and USB from it ?

2) Does the unit come with power adapter and USB cabling, in case you
want to use it with some other computer ?

I cannot find any detailed description for the box contents, to know
what it ships with.

The fact that there is no response, suggest it isn't getting power.

Is there any sign of it in Device Manager ?

That set of symptoms would tend to indicate that it has failed. Does it
even appear in the BIOS screen during boot up?

It has Toshiba libretto U100 laptop on top.

The CD/DVD player does work and respond. It's the little keys which do not
respond. There is a small "Hold" switch below the keys which 'locks' or
'unlocks' the keys. At the moment it's set to the right. If I had the
switch to the left, I think it it unlocked as 'red ' then visible.

Maybe it's a Libretto software issue...?

Does it appear in Device Manager, (if so , uninstall it, and allow it to
be reinstalled)

Is there a separate piece of software to intercept the small
button key presses ? Some computing devices require a
service running in the background, to detect when the key
is pressed, and do something in response. Check whatever
drivers or software came with the package.

Do you have a web page with driver updates on it ?

Maybe there is some info there. Post the URL if you
can find it.
