dvd/cd-rw not working

Hello all,

Let me first say that I am not that computer illiterate, but I can have my
moments when I have no idea what I am doing, this being on of those times.

For some reason my cd burner fails to recognize blank cd's. I can play audio
just fine, can play cd-based games, and even watch dvds. But when I go to
burn a cd it doesn't recognize that there is a blank disc in the drive. I
thought it was due to faulty cds so I went and bought me another pack. Still
nothing if anyone can help me I would really appreciate it.

Thanks.

Check the properties of the CD Burner drive and click on the recording tab. If the
check mark to enable recording is checked, uncheck it and hit apply and then recheck
it and hit apply. If that doesn't work see:

CD-R Drive or CD-RW Drive Is Not Recognized As a Recordable Device.

More info is needed
1. what program are you using to burn
2. what [if any] error msgs received
3. how are you burning
4. is your burner listed as a device

Ok I've tried what was linked and the issue still occurs. My recording tab
is still there and it doesn't recognize that there is a blank disk in the
drive.

I'm using windows medis for music cds, and I am just copy/pasting into my dvd/cd-rw drive and burning from there. That's what I would do normally but since this issue has came up I can't do anything.

I haven't recieved any errors. I just keeps saying that it doesn't recognize
the fact that there is a blank cd in the drive.

4) I am unsure what you mean by listed as a device. Can you please clerify
more on this please.

Thanks to all that are taking the time to help me out.
