Duplex Module for HP LaserJet 2200 (C7064A)

Hello,
I have a LJ 2200 (C7064A) which, as far as I could figure out, is just
able to support manual duplex printing. The 2200D, 2200DT and 2200 DTN
contain a Duplex-Module, so my question is: Is there a Duplex-Module
available to upgrade my LJ 2200 to a LJ2200D? I couldn't find any
information on the HP website.
Another strange thing, by the way, is, that on the test page of the
printer it says "Yes" on the "Color printing" property? What's going on
there??
Thanks in advance.

Gunnar-

Do you have the setup instructions that came with the printer? If not,
you should be able to download it from HP.

If you had the missing duplex unit, could you follow the instructions to
install it? In other words, is there a place in the printer where it
would go? If so, then you may be able to order the duplex unit and
install it yourself. You would be taking a chance, but some other HP
printers can be upgraded. Perhaps a call or eMail to HP would settle the
question.

I do not believe you can retrofit a duplexer to the 2200, the duplexer is an
integral part of the 2200d printer, not an add on.

Tony & Gunnar-

If this is true, it may be similar to the way my HP 4600 works. As far as
I can tell, all the needed duplex hardware is present in the non-duplex
version, but the electronic circuits that would control it are missing
from the mother board ("formatter board").

While it might be possible to install the duplex version of the formatter
board, there is no guarantee it would work since there could be some other
factor I'm not aware of. A new board would cost more than the cost of a
used duplex version of the printer on eBay!

Yes you are right, the formatters have different part numbers for the simplex
versus duplex version, the duplexer tray will not be present, nor will the
rollers, solenoid and other mechanical parts.
