dun--username and/or password not valid on this DOMAIN?

i have a stand alone computer. it is part of a workgroup according to xp. i
cannot connect to my isp using my friend's username and password.
another connection with a different username and password connects.
the features of both the connections are the same but for this connection i
receive the error message " a connection could not be established as the
username and/or password is invalid in this domain."
please help.

Hi,

I have seen this happen when the ISP sets either 150 or 300 hour limits and
then this message will appear when that time is reached for the month. Any
other secondary accounts will work if that limit has not been reached.

Another possible cause in the UK, and perhaps other countries, is where
the account is set up so as to be operated from a specific phone number
and no other

Absolutely Alex, as is here. I live in-between to major cities and there
are only two different phone numbers offered or needed for this area.
However, for the dial-up user that uses a separate line, they generally add
a phone line without thrills, which includes not the coverage for long
distance, which between the two phone numbers, would apply. Not pretty to
find out after the fact. (
