Hi,
When shutting down my computer I get the following message: drwtsn32.exe -
dll initialization failed. Becasue station is shutting down. I looked in the
event viewer and find this source = Application Popup, event = 26. I also get
this same message at times only for dwwin.exe. how can I fix this?
Thank you!

Please post a copy of the Warning / Error Report from Event Viewer.

You can access Event Viewer by selecting Start, Administrative Tools, and
Event Viewer. When researching the meaning of the error, information
regarding Event ID, Source and Description are important.

HOW TO: View and Manage Event Logs in Event Viewer in Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;308427&sd=tech

Part of the Description of the error will include a link, which you should
double click for further information. You can copy using copy and paste.
Often the link will, however, say there is no further information.
http://go.microsoft.com/fw.link/events.asp
(Please note the hyperlink above is for illustration purposes only)

A tip for posting copies of Error Reports! Run Event Viewer and double click
on the error you want to copy. In the window, which appears is a button
resembling two pages. Double click the button and close Event Viewer. Now
start your message (email) and do a paste into the body of the message. This
will paste the info from the Event Viewer Error Report complete with links
into the message. Make sure this is the first paste after exiting from Event
Viewer.

Hope this helps.

this may be becuase of a currupt system file. or a program crashing then
it closes.

make sure you close all the programs down that are running. even one in
the system try and see if it shuts down ok with out them running. this
will tell you if its something not closing right.

if this fails to help try a file system check using sfc /scannow
this will look for and restore any modified system files

Is your computer standalone or networked?

I am wondering whether Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1
might need installing?

The message you posted is an Information Report and not a
Warning or Error Report so it may one to ignore.

Are there any other reports?

System File Checker (sfc.exe) replaces screwed up system files.

Load your XP CD in your CD drive.

Start | Run | Type or paste: sfc /scannow | Click OK

If you have XP Home and it asks for your XP Pro CD, see this KB article...

You may be prompted to insert a Windows XP Professional CD when you run the
System File Checker tool in Windows XP Home Edition
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;897128

If SFC.EXE did anything it will be in the Event Viewer.

Open the Event Viewer...
Start | Run | Type: eventvwr | Click OK |
Click System | Look at any Windows File Protection
entries

Explains a whole bunch about sfc.exe.
scannow sfc (sfc.exe)
http://www.updatexp.com/scannow-sfc.html

Description of Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 System File Checker
(Sfc.exe)
