dropping shares and disconnecting from offline folders

We have a strange problem that has been popping up for the
past week or so. We have several local laptop users
(running XP) that have mapped shares to our Win2000 file
server. Several times a day they will lose all the shares
except for their home folder. Restarting fixes it, but it
happens for some users several times a day.

The other part is that their offline folders keep going
offline and reconnecting intermittently (that is their
home folder)...so the notification keeps popping up.

All the laptops have a wireless NIC in them (which has
been disabled)...so all traffic goes through the wired
NIC. Our desktop users are not getting the same problems.

I'm not sure if the problem is at the server or the
desktop level, so I'mgoing to post this in the XP forums
as well.

Thanks in advance for any help!

I am having the same problem; Just in the last 4 days we
have had several computers, (NT4 WKSTN, W2k pro, WinXP
pro) all experince the same thing, several times a day
their network shares simply disconnect. After rebooting
they work fine again and then it happens all over again.
The DC is a Windows NT 4 Server SP6a, the server hosting
the shares is Windows 2000 Server SP4.

I am having a very similar problem; I have 2 NIC's in my
PC; one to the DC and the other to a workgroup (I am the
only one from my domain that goes into the workgroup;
Every 15 minutes or so, all of my mappings get disconnected
To reestablish them, I have to go into My Netwok places
and open the network, then once opened, I can re-use the
mapping for another 15 mins.

This is creating havoc with my backups which use these
mappings

Any ideas

We have the same problem here.
Windows Xp Service Pack 1A with Windows 2000 SP3 servers.
Every 20 minutes or so laptop users get the working offline pop up message.
We have raised it with microsoft but they have done bugger all except charge us £185
