Drive Image 5 start up problem

Hi
I am using Windows XP home with Service pack 2 installed.
I have tried to do a back up with Drive Image 5, but when it restarted to do
it, I get this message:
"Err 5: Error finding VFLOPPY.SYS
Err 8: Fake floppy driver not found
Press any key to boot active partition"
I also get this message every time I start or restart my PC.
Please help and thank you if you can.

The current version of DI prior to Symantec buying PowerQuest and
remarketing was version 7. Version 5 might not be compatible with XP.
Have you used it on XP before?

No I haven't, I'm just wondering if it (the error message and what it means)
will affect me reformatting my PC, which is what I want to do, this error
message is the only thing that's stopping me. Can I just reformat?

I found some information that says DI 5 does work with XP but it doesn't
work with external drives. Also I don't know if it's compatible with
either SP1 or SP2. It's an old version.
