drag and drop prompting

G

Guest

We have had some issues with people dragging folder to places they shouldnt
be. I was looking at the security zones under internet explorer and noticed
a "drag and drop or copy and paste" setting that could be set to enable,
disable, or prompt. I would like to set this to prompt for intranet zones
but it does not work when I set it in XP. I have tried on 2000 machines and
it does work. Does anyone know why this setting doesnt work in XP?

Thanks,

Earl

I'd like to know the answer to this one as well, we have a user who has
parkinson's disease and we have had problems with this happening more and
more.
The only other option so far i've come across is to create a new registy
entry to disable drag and drop.

I gave it try earlier today and it didnt seem to work. I cant figure it
out. As I mentioned, I simply turned on prompting for intranet zone on a
windows 2000 machine and it worked fine but on XP pro the setting seems to
have no effect.

Hi Wesley

Thanks for the pointers, but still been having a few problems.
I tried going through the Microsoft Management Console and have run into a
couple of snags.
When I run MMC it opens a root console, I go through the instructions (note
add remove snapins is no longer in the actions menue, but in the file
menue.)up till number 9 where I stop cause I can't find the My Computer
section.
I tried doing steps 9 onwards in the internet and local intranet zones, but
nothing happened, still drag and drop is enabled and moving files by accident
is still a possibility.
Where did I go wrong?

Cheers, Sam

Thanks for the Info Wesley,

I have also been having probles with users dragging and dropping files. I
have tried the instructions you provided but drag and drop functionality is
still enabled using Windows explorer.

I have also tried to setting the Zones using IEAK, same procedure just using
IEAK and then rolling it out via a browers package but no joy with this
either.

This must be a common issue so there must be a simple config for it you
would think

Anyone any more suggestions?

Thanks Aeon
