Downloading SP1 again

I have previously downloaded SP1. However, it apparantly
didn't load correctly as when I tried to install a USB
hub I got errors. I have tried talking with microsoft,
but of course, they don't listen. I want to uninstall
the SP1, if someone can tell me where - the files don't
appear under add/remove programs as I was told it would
be. Microsoft told me to reinstall, but when I try to it
takes me back to the windows update site and tells me it
is already installed and doesn't give me a reinstall
option. Any ideas? Thanks

If it is not at the bottom of your ADD/REMOVE programs list, it quite
possibly is not installed but the attempt has left the
Microsoft "site" thinking you have installed it!

When you next have "Internet Explorer" running click on Help and then click
on About Internet Explorer.

Right there on the fourth line down it will say Update versions SP1; and
several others if you have installed it!

You can obtain the file on magazine discs and I would imagine it will be
available on the internet somewhere.

BUT, BUT, But, this time, when you download the file, PLEASE switch your
ANTIVIRUS program OFF, leave your firewall running if you
have one.

You don't have to do this with all downloads, just the ones which are going
to unleash a program and install it!

Ordinary downloads like music or photo's or email or programs that will just
sit and wait for you to activate them after the
download, are fine to leave your antivirus switched on!

Hello,

Also, you can bypass the update site and download the service pack directly
from the following location...

It will only be in Add/remove if you told the install to save the
original files.

Best bet is to use System Restore to a point made before the SP1 install
started - it normally makes one at that time
