Download usage huge

I recently build a new system: XP SP2.

I have set up the XP download and install Windows Updates automatically.
Also I have install P2P software for downloading and noticed the amount of
this P2P download huge amount of data by using some download monitoring
tools. However, I found not all downloaded data contribute to my download
file:
My P2P downloaded file was 200 MB in size, however, the monitoring tools
showed me the total downloaded data was 500MB. I know there were some
discarded data during downloading but should not that much.

Any idea how come the 300MB were missed?

Alan,

Some P2P software like Limewire has an option of disabling Ultrapeers
meaning you are acting as a go-between when downloading or storing a file.
Maybe you are using insecure wireless & someone has tapped in to it. If the
latter is the case then try changing the wireless password or check the
connected machines on the router or even block other MAC addresses

Hi,

I am using wired ADSL2+ connection. So I can exclude the case of someone
hacked into my connection?

The thing is I used the monitoring tools called
"Broadband Download Monitor"
URL: http://www.broadbandchoices.co.uk/broadband-download-monitor.html.

This tools runs on my pc and it really showed the strange thing:

The downloaded usage, for example, ~500MB.
However, I noticed from muy P2P program, the file had been only downloaded
~150 MB.

Not sure the P2P chewed this extra 350MB for what?

And also not sure what other program of my newly built pc are downloading
things, may be the Windows automatic update?

Why isn't SP3 installed?

Did you take care of everything on the following page before otherwise
connecting the machine to the internet or a network and before using a USB
key that isn't brand-new or hasn't been freshly formatted...and prior to
installing this nameless P2P software?...

PA Bear,

I know many XP machines that SP3 kills because of the amount of installed
memory or are using an older Pentium IV processor. So your question about
SP3 not being installed needs some research before you say it

I noticed you point to a managed Technet newsgroup too. Branching out with
your searches now & not limited to Google anymore for your wrong answers all
the time and pointless questions. aren't you a little lost because this is
not an IE newsgroup, that you are 'supposed' to have some knowledge of

Not attacking you but from what I see you really have no knowledge
whatsoever proving the MVP program is a joke
