now that I got my machine clean of virus's, spyware, adware and all that
other garbage is there any way I can control like with a password what the
kids can or cannot download. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

If you have XP Home (you probably do), MVP Doug Knox's XP Security
Console might be of interest to you. Get it by going to
http://www.dougknox.com and clicking on XP Utilities. You'll find the
Security Console there.
