XP to welcome window, wont load user

I have a laptop running XP home. Kids got it full of viruses. Ran antivirus,
cleaned them it said, then rebooted. Now it comes to welcome screen, shows
user but when clicked it only flashes up the desktop then backs out to
welcome screen saying logging off user. Any ideas how to fix this? Any help
is appreciated in advance.

I am sorry, I do not. If it helps the desktop was reading warning, your
computer may be infected... etc, this was the entire desktop replacing my
wallpaper, then would pop up windows each saying file error but each a
different file name.

Yep sounds like you are infected with Antivirus 2009. I have been seeing
more and more posts with that same issue you are having. See the posts made
by Kelly as identified by Noel, follow the instructions there to replace
those files. I am currently working on an easier fix but time constraints
won't allow me to finish it until tomorrow.
