Downgrading from XP to Windows 2000

I have an old app that requires Win2K. I can't buy W2K
now, but can, under an OEM EULA agreement, downgrade from
Win XP to Win2K.

I bought a new Gateway laptop with WinXP, but
installation from my Windows 2000 Professional (Upgrade)
CD is disabled, since it is an earlier version of Windows.

How do I get Windows 2K installed?

The only method I can come up with is to format the disk,
install Windows 98, then install the Windows 2K upgrade.

Is there a quicker way?

Many, many thanks!
Robin

I would suggest trying Windows XP's Program Compatibility
Wizard with your application. Otherwise, you're faced
with performing a "clean install" of Windows 2000.
