Setup cannot upgrade your current installation to Windows XP

I'm trying to upgrade from Win2K to Windows Xp and am
getting the above message. The XP box says that it is for
upgrading from 98/SE/Me. Do I need to downgrade my Win2K
to SE before I upgrade to XP?

What version of XP is this?
Win2K can only be upgraded to XP Professional - if you're
using a XP Home Edition CD, yes, you would need to clean
install (and have a 98/SE/ME CD available), or install
98/SE/ME and then upgrade from there.
