Receive this error when trying to upgrade from 2k Pro to XP Pro

Receive this error when trying to upgrade from 2k pro to
XP pro,


"Windows XP setup does not support upgrading from
Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional to Microsoft Windows
XP Professional."

If you do not believe me I have the screen shot to prove
it.

It says many of places on the internet and on microsoft's
site that 2k pro CAN be upgraded to XP pro, but I receive
this error.

little more details:
XP pro version is an OEM copy. 2k pro install trying to
upgrade might be an MSDN version. I am suspecting that
the MSDN 2k version cannot be upgraded maybe? any ideas?

An OEM version of Windows XP is not designed to upgrade
over an existing Windows installation....only "retail versions"
have this capability. An OEM version can only be installed on
a clean, reformatted drive.

(That's one of the reasons OEM versions cost less)
