Application error when upgrading Win 2K Pro to XP Pro

Hello, I am attempting to upgrade from Win 2K pro to XP pro and I am getting an
application exception "unknown software exception". The upgrade will then
restart
and the exception happens again etc. etc.

Has anyone else experienced this ? Any work around ? I doubt it but I
thought I
would ask.
