does my computer have abuilt-in mic

my friend computer can do open talk not using a plug-in mic. i tried open
talk with a mic but it seems that it does not work. how do i know if i have
a built-in mic. my computer is new with windows xp. please let me know.

If it is new it will clearly say so in the manual or even on the box that it
came in.

Side note: Maybe but probably not unless it is a laptop and, in some cases,
a monitor with it built in. You can pick one up at your local department
store for a few dollars.
