disk defragmenter

daniel

when trying to run disk defragmenter (system tool), I get
the following message :
although you have 19% free space on volume, only 2% is
available to defragmenter.........
My disk was almost full and I deleted or moved a lot of
files but defragmenter does not "see" the free space. How
can I make these 19 % free space visible to defragmenter ?
Thks

1.) Look at your page file settings.
If the min and max are not the same for that partition,
then the space needed for a page file of max size is
unavailable to some defraggers even if the actual current
page file size is much less than max.

2.) Some defraggers won't use free space within the
MFT Reserved Zone. The MFTRZ is usually 12.5% of
any NTFS partition.

3.) Empty your recycle bin if you have not already done so.
