The Balloon help/ToolTips that keep popping up whenever I hover my mouse
over particular areas are beginning to drive me mad.

How can I disable this function or set a longer delay before triggering?

Why have I not been able to find anything relevant in the help files having
searched for Balloon help and ToolTips?

Hi Jonathan,

Q: How can I skip all the balloons. both the balloons that you get the first
time you connect to a machine and also the one that come regularly?
A: You can use the registry to disable all the balloons (as you may have
learned, TweakUI does not disable everything.) Here are the keys you will
need to modify (set all to zero).

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced\EnableBalloonTips

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced\ShowInfoTip

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced\FolderContentsInfoTip

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced\StartButtonBalloonTip

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\tips\Show

Be aware that you change the registry at your own risk. Modifying the
registry without proper education can be hazardous. A: Legal disclaimers are
fun. hehe. :)

Thanks Guys.

A pity to have to disable it altogether. I would have preferred to have
just set a longer delay. I guess I shouldn't be too surprised that
Microsoft hasn't provided an option in this respect.
