Disabled Person w Sound Question

Hi I have a question. My sister is disabled and uses a headset with an attached microphone to speak commands and type via Dragon Naturally Speaking. She also uses it to talk to me via yahoo chat. The headset and microphone works with Dragon and yahoo, but she does not get sound when trying to record into the WindowsXP sound recorder. She speaks but the line stays flat and does not record. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Thanks in advance!

Open the Sound and Audio Devices control panel; choose the Audio Tab,
The Sound Recording section Click Volume button. Check the settings
there for Microphone Volume.
