Director is a product of Macromedia. It is commonly used for educational
software of various sorts.

The problem does not lie with Windows XP. While there were a few problems
between Director and XP
that were promptly fixed by Macromedia a few versions back, I have had no
problems running Director
presentations at least back to version 6.5. (Current version is about 9.0.)

You could try running this in "compatibility mode." You might also make
sure that you have the latest
version of Shockwave (available from www.macromedia.com). Also, make sure
you have the latest
version of Quicktime (from quicktime.apple.com). I am not optimistic that
any of these would help.

The best thing to do is to notify the department of Daimler Chrysler
responsible for the CD of your problems.
They will contact the developer to whom the project was outsourced. Most
Director developers are very
conscientious about maintaining the usability of their products. With only
a general error message, it is not
possible to determine whether the problem is with Director itself, with a
standard extension, with any of a large
number of custom extensions, or with something extraneous (like a printer
driver). The original developer
has the best chance of tracking this down.

Good luck,

Myron
