Director player

When trying to run some CD ROms on my newly bought XP
machine I get the message

'Director player . Script Error . Do you wish to
continue ?

If I say mo the application terminates immediately . If
yes it goes on to the next screen but still won't run .

Any ideas what this is all about ?

Appears to be Shockwave For Director, an animation/image renderer.
