didnt know where to put this msg but thought it was interesting:

cause im sure loads of us on here have websites,,,,

i found this today and it seems like a good deal, you sign up and place
a banner (in my case was for a insurance company) 3 places on your
website, and they give you £10 amazon voucher for initially doing it,
and also £5 for every month you keep it there!

seems to be a good offer to me so thought i would spread the word

'Free Amazon vouchers from your website'

Actually, I could tell you where to put "this msg" but it would be too
graphic for the MS newsgroups. Spammers are scum.

NO !

Spam is in the subject and body of a News Group post.

Putting a URL in one's signature is not spam.

Proper signatures are separated from the body of the post by "-- " and then the signature
falls below it as you see with my reply.

Good News Clients will automatically strip the signature when one replies to a post and will
do so based upon the standardization of using "-- " which is interpreted by the News Client
accordingly.

Outlook Express by itself does not have that capability (unless it has been added in OE7)
and that one of many reasons why I use FidoLook. FidoLook uses the OE DLLs, provides the
same OE look and feel but it enhances OE greatly such as reading yEnc posted attachments,
bottom posting, and viewing a X-Face.

No, it's a personal/business signature, totally appropriate with name,
business association, URL, Professional standing.

Don Schmidt

OH! Then what the original poster should have done was put his/her message
in the signature area of the message.

Thank you for the lesson.

Thanks, Mac. No Mr. Schmidt, it isn't spamming. As Mr. McCarty said, I
include my business and website as part of my signature on the MS
newsgroups so posters to whom I reply can see that I am a professional
who does computer repair/tech support for a living. After all, taking
tech advice from a complete stranger is risky; if you have some idea of
who the stranger is and their experience, that helps you evaluate the
quality of the advice.

The website itself doesn't carry any ads and I don't normally get
business from it*, so there is no financial gain for me in including
the information. The website is there for professional reasons, but
mostly to give information and tech help for free to people who want it
(and that is one of the main reasons I volunteer in the MS newsgroups,
too).

*People who need computer repair/tech support call local firms and
somebody in England reading my website will not become a client unless
they amazingly (and sadly for them) move to Fresno, California, USA.

Hello again, just thought i would like to say, that i am totally agains
spamming, but in this case i saw this same msg on another site and that
how i found out about it. and getting £10 amazon voucher for free can
be bad,,, u dont have to get a load of hits or anything just put
banner on ur site, and im sure a lot of people have websites..

so what is wrong with letting people know of a good offer when there i
one, it is computer related!

and with the voucher you can buy XP.... so it is XP related lol.. ju
kiddin.

and as regards to whats been said about "www.elephantboycomputers.com
yes that is totally spamming, if advertising what that person believe
to be a good deal is counted as spamming, cause the person has pu
company name and not just an address, i advertise my webaddress o
other forums on my sig, but with my name along with it, not me compan
name. so it makes it more personal and not and advert!.

regards

And who use the phrase "for free". It's either "for nothing" or it's "free".

No, posting a question regarding the Windows XP operating system in this
newsgroup would be better. This is not a chat room or a forum, but you
probably don't know about Usenet.

You are using a web interface on one of those "message boards" that
really only does parasitic sucking of Usenet posts. Based on the online
name you are using and the quality of language in your posts, you are
probably too young to even know about Usenet although you are actually
using it.

Here is some information about Usenet and how to get more out of this
resource. You will also see why people flamed you over your post.

http://www.dts-l.org/goodpost.htm

The best way to access Usenet is by using a newsreader. There are many
good newsreaders for Windows, but you can use Outlook Express since you
already have it:

Hot that anyone's going to believe any of that, for a second.
Spammers, by definition, have *no* integrity, and therefore cannot be
trusted.
