Good deal on Wireless networking

I just rushed down there and bought it after getting an email from
COMPUSA. I didnt see it on the flier Sunday so just in case some in
the US want it and think its a good deal I thought Id mention it.

Its Belkin F5D6001 wireless PCI card.
I havent seen one lower than $40-60 when I did a search in the past
though today I did see one on the net around $35. Anyway its $19
after rebate this week. I see it at Amazon for around $50 or so.
Not sure what to make of the reviews on Amazons US site though they
are about mosty Belkins other products and really trash it but Belkin
has a variety of similar cards out. And curiosly - At the UK amazon
site the same product is raved about 4-5 star by all the reviewers.
Its a 802.11b card with a $30 rebate.

Also several wireless routers by Belkin 8082.11b router
for $19 minus rebate . It has USB connects.

I got the other Belkin fpr $29 after rebate since it had regular
ethernet plugs for non-wireless connects since Ive never used the
other router I wasnt sure how to connect a non wireless connection to
it . Simple USB PC -> to USB router in ? I dont know.

Seems like a great deal from the search I did - locally its really
expensive.

If you are like me and live in Cucamonga - they also have some DVD-R
media 10 pack for $8 . Maybe not that great a deal if you dont live in
Cucamonga especially after I found out it was 1X !!!! I didnt even
know they still made 1x but doing a search I see they still do. Im
wondering if you can burn it 2x anyway.

Reasonably good deals, except that the rebates often go to TCA rebate
center (New Rochelle, NY)... if any rebate center is likely to "loose"
your rebate, they'd be the one. Frankly I'm amazed they're still in
business (TCA, not Compusa).

Ive cautiously started doing rebates again. I was wiped out last month
- had about 6 rebates rejected. Just having one big one or a few
rejected makes tons of rebate deals you hassled though totally a waste
of time since the deals can be so pathetic if you dont get the rebate.

I got a 4.99 for a 256 PC133 memory deal I bought at Circuit City (ugh
- had a string of sleazy experiences there , hasnt stopped yet) I
bought for someone since it was so cheap . The deal was $70 !!!! You
get the rest back in a rebate. If I dont get this back its a gross
ripoff.

"loose" was a play on words... ususally they don't lose it, but their
attitude towards fulfilling the rebates is loose. Sometimes I've
heard nothing from them, other times the check was small, other times
they claim something was wrong, incorrect material submitted (which is
near impossible after I'd been very carefully documenting everything
I'd sent to them (in particular). In some "deals" forums it's been
well-known that TCA was unreliable and after MANY people called them
they had to know of their poor performance, yet nothing ever changed.

Other rebate centers aren't nearly such a gamble.

Oh yeah I wanted to mention just in case anyone wants to get some
wireless stuff - I checked yesterday and they also added the FMI
router rebate deal for $29 this week.

Also next week I got an advance email - Netgears wireless router is
$29 and cards are $29 - PCI and notebook.

This week - as I mentioned Belkins routers are rebated 19 and 29 and
their PCI card 19 but they also have a notebook card/wireless deal I
think for $19 too but Im not 100% sure.

Maybe they are getting rid of these with all the new wireless
standards out now.

So they are pushing the wireless stuff this month I guess. Will it
continue ? I dont know. Many times Compusa will push something for a
while and then nada. Like the TV capture cards - big sales for a few
months and then nothing until a few months ago then there were two
deals but not as good as the former ones.

I also noticed they were virtually giving away joy sticks and game
pads a while back everywhere - thats also largely disappeared
nowadays. One of the common freebie items.

Scanners also are rarer. I remember in the late 90s it was like every
week there was a Visioneer or something for $10-19 after rebate.
