Oh no... what have they (not) done to raise the wrath of Mucks again?

They really are a useless lot when it comes to getting anything done (also speaking from bitter experience.) Imho, part of the problem is that they've become too big and are incapable of following things through interdepartmentally.

... someone went by the exchange and sneezed, the modem latency has defaulted to 'interleaved' and not 'Fast' as it should be. This is the second time this month.

Spoke to a supervisor that actually knew what I was talking about, however, he insists it'll take three days for the boat to get here from India. :(

He says he'll call me on Saturday morning, I'll be on the phone by 1pm. :)

Has the line been dropping? That would cause the change. What's the SNR?

Also is the FEC count high?

Line drops, yes ... SNR (I hate acronyms) Signal to Noise Ratio, I dunno ... I just see the game freeze and sometimes the broadband light will go out, then I get angry. :)

FWIW... there are a lot of aggrieved BT customers over on Think Broadband's forum. I mention this because one of the regular contributors, called "BT-Care" (on-site BT ISP spokesperson, seemingly...) invites the posters to get in touch. They appear to have helped in a few recent cases, when CS has miserably failed.

Linky: The shambles that is BT (quoting the title of thread.... there are many others... ) scroll down to 5th post for the BT Care person.

Nice-n-quite, always has been ... I have no problems in my flat, non, nada, never have since day one ... a BT Openreach engineer fitted the kit I have, including doing away with filters as it is built-in on the main, and only, socket.

Do you speak with an Indian accent, will make me feel more at home answering your questions. ;)

I jest, I don't know what they do in the exchanges, all I know is the "problem" stems from there ... I've already had a Lift-n-shift because it got so bad a few month ago. :(

Thanks TC ...

Your enquiry reference number: 130410-006145

... I don't expect a response, but then I'm a bit fed-up with BT.

Initially I contacted them on Tuesday 26th March with the same 'problem', engineer call Wednesday  , waited, another phone call to find out that nothing was acted on, finally got back to "fast" on Saturday 6 April. :(

:(I had the same sort of trouble with BT when we moved out here, it took them 3 months to go no where and told them and their help desk (so called) to go forth and multiply. and now use a company called Vfast which specialises in rural areas with a wireless siginal and is subsided by Kent County Council but is expensive £27 a month but I do get 8 to 10meg rather than the BT 0.03meg I eventually got from BT.

Since I have been with Talk Talk on fiber, I have had better service from BT Openreach than when I was with BT :fool:

Same here with Sky Fibre Optic/Openreach.
Seems they can do more work than BT can?

As I understand it the whole of the UK is dependant on BT's network structure. Though I'm not sure if some cable services are independent.

BT? I had my first run-in with them in 1976, when I set up house with first wife person. It's an ongoing thing, sad to say.

They're rubbish, pure and simple.

err, not quite the whole UK. I remember NTL, in South Wales Cardiff at the time, digging up most of Cardiff laying Fibre Optic Cable. They were the only ones I can think of off hand.

I am waiting for BT to finish their Cable to the Box in my area, then I'll go with Virgin, or someone. Now due in October 2013.

Virgins network is their own.

Any UK ADSL/ADSL2/VDSL service is via the BTW network, unless its a LLU ISP who have their own DSLAMS etc in the exchange.

:)
