Diagnostic function question....

After installing Office 2007 on my main computer I noticed that Word seemed
sluggish or slow to open.
As a test i installed Office 2007 on my other(older) computer and it opens
very quickly or, in my opinion, normally. So I ran the diagnostics and it
fixed a problem with one of the files. Word seems to still open slowly or
more slowly than Word on my older computer.
So my question is what more can I do to troubleshoot this problem of Word
opening slowly on my main computer. Its seems to be more of an annoyance than
a real problem at the moment.

Hi Charles,

If you open Word while holding the ctrl key does it open more quickly? If so then it could be one or more add-ins loading that
affect Word or your Antivirus software on that PC.

If the speed is the same are you on a network? If so is your template folder and your printer driver on the local machine or on the
server? Do you also get slowness in Office Button(file)=>Open? If so check in the 'Look in' list there for unused network drives
that you can disconnect by right clicking on them.

Hi Bob,
What I have discoovered is that Word opens very quickly when I type
"winword.exe /a" in the run box.

You suggested to go to Office Button(file)>open and check the "Look In"
list. Where do I find the "look in" list?

I also discovered that the "normal.dot" template is named "normal.dotm"
instead.
I stopped my antivirus program and that seems to have helped somewhat.
