desktop too small

for the first two years, my desktop size and screen resolution have been
fine. i run windows xp home edition and keep the laptop screen on 1024 x
768. for the past week, every time i boot up, the desktop comes up much
smaller than the monitor size. the resolution settings are still listed as
1024 x 768. i have to change them to 800 x 600, then change back to 1024 x
768. it restores the desktop to the correct size and resolution. when i log
off and then reboot up, it all has to be changed again. any ideas

Most interesting, Bill. And this is not from running any games or any new
programs from CMD? In the meantime, see if this helps and keep us posted.

To use the Regedit: Save the REG File to your hard disk. Double click it
and answer yes to the import prompt. REG files can be viewed in Notepad by
right clicking on the file and selecting Edit.
