Hi all,
Whenever I boot my laptop, the OS loads and immediately
the following message pops up on my laptop
LSA SHELL(EXPORT VERSION)ERROR SIGNATURE
SzAPPNAME: LSASS.EXE
SzAPPVER : 5.1.2600.1106
szmodname: unknown
szmodver:0.0.0.
offset:00000000
system shutdown:
c:\windows\system32\lsass.exe
status code: 1073741819
When I checked the lsass.exe file, the dates were very old
and I thought this must be a virus file and I have renamed
the lsass.exe file to lsass.txt and then restarted the
machine.
From then the system comes up and it just shows me a blank
screen with the mouse pointer on it. The mouse pointer
can be moved.
I thought of renaming the lsass.txt file to lsass.exe file
because only after this renaming i have this problem of XP
not starting. So, I tried using the microsoft procedure
of logging in safe mode with command prompt. This option
also just boots the OS and finally a blank screen appears
with the mouse pointer. I have tried all the boot options
but the result is the same - blank screen with mouse
pointer.
I have to rename the file back to its original name and
for that I need to see a command prompt.
Can somebody suggest me as how to come out of this please.
I have valuable data on the hard disk. The OS i am having
is Windows XP Home Edition. The Vendor has given a
recovery CD but for full recovery it will format the hard
disk which i am scared of because all my data will be
gone. I tried booting with that CD but even that does not
help, the OS takes over and again i see a blank screen
with the mouse pointer.
Could anybody please let me know as how to override OS and
just get the C prompt. Any help is appreciated.
