Desktop Icons dissappear in XP

Hi all,

I'm hoping someone can help me. The other day after uninstalling norton
anti-virus and replacing it with PC-Cillin I noticed that when I boot
up, half the time the icons aren't on the desktop. The start button and
task bar is there though.

I can't right click on the desktop, nothing happens. The only thing I
can do to bring them back is hit the windows plus e key and that helps.

Any clues? I have no spyware or viruses, system is clean and this is
the only problem I have.

Try display,properties,desktop,customize desktop,web tab,chk the box "lock
desktop items".

icon cache. This can't hurt anything and may well solve your issue.
