Well, I think Home Premium users got one stuck in the butt.
Why is this an Ultimate feature only?
No wonder Apple is making so many commericals about how much MS/Vista sucks.
Was my $160 "upgrade" not enough money for Billy Boy for Dreamscene?

<--- Paid $160 for a new windows theme and the annoying as p*ss "User
Account Control"

Plus all the business features, and bitlocker.

*shrugs*

They have already released a 'preview' version of DreamScene on about
2/14/07.
Did you get this yet?

Yes, it is very easy after you download this "xtra for ultimate" feature.
right click on desktop, select background, select what video, select screen
size then hit OK. It works great and DOES NOT use much cpu 19 to 35 percent.
my specs AMD 4600 64x2 w/2 gigs pc3200 and evga 7600gs

I have already downloaded the setup file for Dream Scene. I am running
Windows Vista Ultimate Beta, and have the graphics card to run Aero, but
Dream Scene will not install. It says the update does not apply to my system.
Apparently, my cpu (1.5 GHz) is not fast enough. This is about the only thing
I can think of, unless Microsft is trying to get me to buy the retail
version. I installed the Beta with the understanding that it is good until
05/31/07, and that I would receive Technical Support.

The beta versions are a dead end as far as being able to do things that were
implemented after that particular beta version was released. The
understanding is that a beta is used to test and determine if you actually
want to use Vista or not. Add-ons like DreamScene were developed and then
tested using the Final version of Vista.

The DreamScene "Preview" is available if you have Ultimate (the real thing,
not the beta)...and it includes one "Dream".

More "Dreams" are available at www.stardock.com for free. Some are pretty
cool. The "Dark Energy" one is the most popular.

I have genuine Ultimate, activated and done WGA, why can I not find the Texas
Hold 'em game? I thought that was out?

This is not fair, the Dreamscene feature is one of the main things I wanted
out of Vista and I have Home Preamium. This is bad on microsoft's part
becoues they didn't advertize this as only Ultimante when I looked at the
comperison it said Home Premium said It Had Windows Aro and I thought that
was a part of that.

i have vista ultimae which includes dreamscene and its working a treat it
just lacks content, you can use ur own vids n clips from just about anywere
and it seems to be fine, if u lot with home editions wanted all vistas
features u shudda bought into the "ULTIMATE" dream so its your own fault you
only have the basic os packages and you only have yourselfs to blame pmpl the
whole package DOES run on a smaller system even if upgrade advisor tells you
otherwise, it said i cud run home basic only but here i am running ultimate
with absolutly no problems :) now....... theres plenty of content for
dreamscene out there ... just search for it and thou shall find lol now shut
up moaning n let the developers get on with making us more cool stuff to run
in our desktops

I think what they try and do is convince people to just look at the already
posted topics instead of posting new ones, because if they can keep it down
to a minimum then Microsoft will be under the impression that the outrage
isn't as bad as it really is.

In cases like this, the more threads about the situation will likely
convince them to address the situation sooner than later, i.e. 1 million
voices crying foul will be louder than a million voices hiring one person to
cry foul for them.

Been asked and answered in here over and over. Look through / search posts
before asking a question, ok? It's not out yet, and no date for release.

For this particular question that's a nonsensical response, because the
answer could have changed since the last time it was asked. BTW MS is sinking
really low by creating this "caste system" of versions of Vista. It will
backfire.

I agree. I originally wanted to sample the new Media Center features,
just for kicks, but couldn't do an install in place with Home Premium
and the Business version while it costs $40 more doesn't have it. I'm
not forgiving MicroGreed for being such a greedy bastard, expecting
people to get their Ultimate version just to get "everything" in the
new version.

Let me ask a silly question. Ok, so you have this DreamScene. Now are you
going to sit there all day and just watch a video on your desktop, or are you
going to work or surf the net or play games or do other things people buy
computers for? I have a picture on my desktop, but when I'm not doing
something, I'm surely not going to just sit here and stare at a looping
video. Or am I missing something?

i agree! i am disappointed that it isnt included in home premimum but right
now there is nothing we can do about it.! hopefully soon microsoft will let
us get it. after all we pay good money for it! ultimate isnt really better
then home prem. anyways just a few better security features so why not let us
have dream scene after all i feel the home prem. will sell better then the
ultimate mainly if they include this. they should of let everyone know it was
only with ultimate instead of us finding out after we buy.

Heh!

What part of Marketing do you not understand!

Let's see, i'll buy a basic Kia, but I want it with a Hemi engine, Blaupunkt
stereo system, DVD video player and GPS. Oh and by the way I don't want to
pay extra for these options.

Amazing.
