Deleting Print job in Word immediately on HP5600 series printer .

When cancelling a print job, status shows "deleting" but nothing happens and
printer shows error - offline. It is not possible to print subsequent
documents till the print job in question is deleted. How do I purge the
printer buffer?
I am using Windows Vista with Word 2007.
