Deleting IE browser history

C

Cooter

Prior to leaving Internet Explorer (v7) I always go through the procedure to
delete browser history, clicking the "Delete All" button. Recently I find
that temporary internet files are not being deleted - don't know about the
other stuff. Virus and spyware checks show nothing along that line. Now I
have to use a third-party utility (System Mechanic) to clean up. Any idea
why IE stopped cleaning up after itself?

Thanks for any help.

Hi,
Another program (or IE itself) may have the Temporary Internet Files folder
in use. Try accessing Internet Options from Control Panel- with no Internet
Explorer windows open. You may have to shutdown e-mail and or messaging
programs- some of them use the TIF folder.

See: http://windowsxp.mvps.org/deltifonexit.htm for more information.

Configuring CCleaner www.ccleaner.com to run at startup before other
programs are opened might be a solution.

Hope this helps,
