Security and Saving History in IE6

Because I do a lot of research my Favorites folder is quite bloated. It would
be nice if IE had an option to save history as a text or .csv file so I can
keep IE "clean".

Reading through a number of posts I found a number of software programs that
will do this, free or otherwise, but my concerns are:

1> Do any of these programs collect personal data for unscrupulous third
parties in the guise of performing a service, and

2> I believe an MVP recommended "iambigbrother" as one alternative, and I
know Norton will detect it as spyware.

3> Can anyone tell me which 3rd party utility would accomplish this in a
benign manner, as I do not know enough about programming.

Here are the software programs recommended from another post:
Here's a very nice free utility that do that very easily:

Hi sheana :)

How to Backup IE History

Free Program: Internet Explorer Backup
http://www.backsettings.com/internet-explorer-backup.html

I can personally vouch for the BackRex, as I use it to back up my Favorites
and Cookies. It is easy and simple to use, and restore works fine. It was
highly recommended to me by several IE MVps who also work with scumware
removal and prevention, and I don't think they would recommend it if there
was any security issues with it. I have a folder on a separate drive that I
use to back up all my IE files to which includes passwords and other IE
related files, so that in case I have a problem with the main drive, I won't
lose these valuable files. I recommend this program to all my students and
clients to back up their Internet files.
I don't use Norton, but, my AV, AdAware nor SpyBot has ever detected it as
any type of threat.

Another free utility to organize your Favorites is here. To permanently save
the Favorites I use this program.

FavOrg: To save Favicons - Free
http://www.softpedia.com/get/Internet/Bookmark-Managers/favorg.shtml
This allows you to save them permanently in a different folder and
re-associate your favorites with the stored icons. It also verifies whether
your links in Favorites are still good, and lets you organize them as you
wish.

Hope this helps.
