Delete Temporary Files after Burning a CD

D

Dave W.

After I successfully burn a CD, I try to delete the
temporary files that Windows/XP created but it always
comes back and says that it cannot because "it is being
used by another person or program". I have shutdown
everything and then tried to "Delete Temporary Files" by
right clicking on the CD drive and choosing this option
but it still fails. The only solution is to log out or
reboot. What program is using these files and how can I
get it to stop doing so?

See if this helps...
Kelly's link, below, and click on "C"
Scroll to "CD - Files Ready to be Written to the CD (message box keeps
appearing)"

For most XP answers and tweaks...
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_abc.htm
http://dougknox.com http://aumha.org
http://support.microsoft.com
.
None of those sites seems to help. What is strange is
that even after the burn completes (successfully), and
the disk ejects by itself, when I close the wizard, it
complains that the files are in use by someone or
something and cannot be deleted. This happens on both XP
machines I use (one at home and one at the office).
Perhaps there is a utility that shows all open file
handles on a system so I can find the application that
seems to be preventing the files from being deleted?

Thanks again.

Your burning program is using those files. Your PC is fine.
