delay

I'm having problems with Internet Explorer. When a new page
loads, there is a delay of about 5-10 seconds before you
can click on anything. the blue bar on the bottom also
lags. What could be the problem?

I'm been having a similar problem with my PC (a laptop running Win2K
SP4, IE 6 SP1, all the latest updates). I've run anti-virus software,
Ad-Aware, Spybot, and I've checked for BHOs, but there's nothing out
of the ordinary, and I still have the problem if I disable all BHOs. I
do run AdSubtract as an ad-blocking proxy, but the problem still
occurs when I disable it.

My specific problem is a pause of about 30 seconds when I open any new
IE window, whether from the Start menu, or opening a link in an
existing page in a new window. I do not have any problems with Opera,
and I tried installing Windows 98 into Virtual PC on this machine, and
IE6 there works just fine.

There are many, many posts in different newsgroups from people having
this problem, and there have been many solutions offered...I've tried
all of them, but so far nothing works. And no, I don't have any
spyware on my PC.

Thanks,
Jason
