Defragmentation does not work due to problems with mmc

When I try to defragment my computer I receive a message, that the program
can not start because my Microsoft Management Console is not working because
the registration data base is not registered correctly.
The defragment program uses MMC to start.

What to do about this ?

Please post an exact copy of the Error Report even if it is in Danish.

TYou can access Event Viewer by selecting Start, Control Panel,
Administrative Tools, and Event Viewer. When researching the meaning
of the error, information regarding Event ID, Source and Description
are important.

HOW TO: View and Manage Event Logs in Event Viewer in Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/308427/en-us

Part of the Description of the error will include a link, which you
should double click for further information. You can copy using copy
and paste. Often the link will, however, say there is no further
information.

A tip for posting copies of Error Reports! Run Event Viewer and double
click on the error you want to copy. In the window, which appears is a
button resembling two pages. Click the button and close Event
Viewer. Now start your message (email) and do a paste into the body of
the message. Make sure this is the first paste after exiting from
Event Viewer.

I cannot even reach the event vierwer due to the same - Microsoft Mangement
Console does not work.
The error message I get (IN DANISH):
MMC kunne ikke initialiseres, fordi den ikke er blevet installeret korrekt,
eller fordi en del af registreringsdatabasen er blevet beskadiget.

I hope someone can help me from here.

This post by Ramesh may help:

Re: MMC failed to initialize

Type this command from Start/Run:

regsvr32.exe %SystemRoot%\system32\mmcndmgr.dll

If the command is successful, you'll see this dialog:
---------------------------
RegSvr32
---------------------------
DllRegisterServer in C:\WINDOWS\system32\mmcndmgr.dll succeeded.
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------

BTW, you can also use the Command-line Defrag tool. Type Defrag /? in
Command Prompt.

defrag c:
-or-
defrag c: -f

Hej Gerry - thank you very much - I was able to defrag my computer via the
Commando - line.

But I was not able to initialize MMC from Start/run with the line, you gave
me.
I get this answer (IN DANISH): Det angivne modul blev ikke fundet.
In English something like: The typed module was not found.

Is there a way I can fix this - maybe by downloading a version of MMC???

I`m sorry to trouble you guys so much.

Yours Sincerely
